Fear and Unending Defeat

Pearl Harbor. Bataan. Corregidor. The Philippines. Burma. One disaster after another as Japan thrust irresistibly across the Pacific. The nation didn’t have time to catch its breath after one disaster before the next one was upon it.

This Year of Obama has felt like that. The republic suffers one loss after another as its traditions are chipped away by a relentless, implacable foe who respects neither our values nor our dreams and who will employ any means to achieve his goal, which is to have his foot on the neck of this country and Make. It. Atone.

If that takes getting a few hundred of his S.E.I.U. minions to go clamoring around some Washington neighborhoods like a lynch mob in a 50’s western, well, then that’s what will be done. If it works then that’s all that counts. Besides, the cadres need to go on maneuvers now and then to keep in trim.

And who is to stop him? The press? With few exceptions the media still can’t get it’s nose out of the Obama backside. The Congress? The party that controls Congress just gave a standing ovation to a foreign leader as he vilified an entire American state.

We came back from 1942. All the way to the Japanese surrender on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri in 1945 (another event which Obama said made him uncomfortable). I hope we can come back from 2008.

One thing I can promise: if we come back and save this union it will not be done by being all moderate and bipartisan and inclusive. That’s what the media want. We know this because every single day there are op-eds in the New York Times or the Washington Post or the Los Angeles Times or the Christian Science Monitor or Newsweek or Time or your local paper telling us this is so.

And remember! If tempted to behave in a manner that the media tells you is responsible and adult,  remember just who completely abdicated their responsibility to present a picture of the world as it was and turned into the Barack Obama Drum and Bugle Corps. Remember that.

We are a great nation and we have to get back to behaving like one. We have to get back to a condition of sanity, both financially, socially, and politically. And there are a lot of people who really don’t like sanity. It runs counter to their interests.
