The always-estimable Neo-Neocon describes Congress in epidemiological terms

Congress has become like a virus that has figured out how to penetrate the defenses of the CBO scoring and overwhelm whatever truth it used to offer.

I really hate to see Neo, one of my absolutely most-fave bloggers, the apple of my eye, experiencing increasing unease, even anxiety, as the American Raft-of-State approaches Obama Falls.  I think one of her main worries is that our current leadership doesn’t mind if we go over because if we do everyone will be equal.  There won’t be big rafts, or small rafts, or fancy rafts, or crude rafts.  Just kindling.

So — what to we do to allay this anxiety?  Well, I have an idea (really).  Let’s use Neo’s virus model. Just from a different angle.

Right now the society most of us knew and valued is gone in the places where the beautiful, the privileged, and the powerful hold sway.

But they are still enough afraid of us that they are putting on a good show.

So let’s use Neo’s virus paradigm to our advantage.  Let’s be the vaccine.

Of course, I may be a little late to this picnic.  I understand that one of the books on the top of the sales list right now is Rules for Radicals. And I don’t think it’s being bought by budding Obamatons.

Let’s be Americans.  Let’s be the American virus vaccine!

Fever Dreams

I had a virus once: pneumonia.  Almost died from it, but for a while there is was pretty cool.  In fevered delirium you get some great dreams and hallucinations.  I visited other solar systems and talked to some really interesting aliens.  From what I remembered it was a great experience.

Now I have a pneumonia shot.  I won’t get it again.

America had a pretty good run but she got sick and the virus which sickened her has her all fevered-up right now.

It’s kind of ironic because if we are going to be the vaccine we are going to have to adopt at least one of the favorite memes of the virus people, which is to be part of a larger group.  But our larger group must be one of honor to our country and personal responsibility and refusal to let a virus into our lives even if the virus will temporarily give us some free stuff.

I liked my fever dreams but they weren’t real and they weren’t healthy.  No more fever dreams for America.  Vaccines, UNITE!

Well, dang! This is one of the most cogent and philosophically difficult posts you have done. Good job. I think.

You may rightly ask why and from where I am concerned with Obamacare? Well, the entire World will be affected by it and I am looking forward to the end of the current Media frenzy.

It is a sickening display of hate, suspicion and animosity on a scale as I have never seen before. By now I just wish it were one week from now so that we can start to repair the damage.

I like your last paragraph summation:

    Let’s be Amer¬i¬cans. Let’s be the Amer¬i¬can virus vaccine!”
