Just because something feels good doesn’t make it a good idea.

I get emails having proof that Obama wasn’t qualified to run for president. They have a kind of There! See? He isn’t who he said he is! air about them.

The fact is that Obama may not have been qualified to run for president or to be president, but he got a majority of the electoral college to vote for him.   You’re not going to get him out of office without impeachment and conviction.  When the Democrats have big majorities in both houses of Congress that ain’t gonna happen.   So the only upside is that it can make some people, who wouldn’t vote for Obama and probably not any Democrat if their lives depended on it, feel charged up and vindicated.

The downside is that it can annoy a lot of people who can go either way. The Democrats are counting on that, as related by the Hot Air blog.

The “blame Bush” strategy flamed out in Massachusetts so they’re moving on to an even more substantive Plan B.

Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical – yet time-sensitive –opportunity for Democratic candidates,” a DSCC memo, obtained by CNN, states. “We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record.”

When the Democrats took complete control in 2009 they had the chance to do some serious good for the country.  Instead, having large majorities in both houses of Congress and a very popular president, they mounted their hobbyhorse, drew their sword, and went galloping off towards the enemy, the rich fat cats as portrayed in 1930’s New Yorker cartoons, and in the process their enthusiastic sword thwacks hacked off a few million jobs that aren’t coming back any time soon.

Conservatives need to be smarter than that.  The country deserves it.
