Barack and his Council of Adorers agree.
Why else would the house organ of the Élite Liberal Brain-Trust Establishment publish something like this statement in a New York Times editorial:
There is no question that without a filibuster-proof majority it will be a lot harder to pass a bill. But it should not be impossible if Congressional Democrats and the White House show courage and creativity. Health care reform is too important to throw away, and it is not too late to persuade voters that it is in their interest.
See that? The it is not too late part? Run! Run! It is not too late! Be the first on your block! Limited time offer! It is not too late!
It is not TOO LATE!
Of course, an ordinary person with a little common sense would figure that if it is something that has to be done RIGHT NOW it is because of an IMMEDIATE LOOMING EMERGENCY. The Times implies as much by writing
If the Democrats quit now, so close to the goal line, the opportunity for large-scale reform could be lost for years. Meanwhile, the number of uninsured, currently more than 46 million, will keep going up and the cost of health care will continue to soar.
An opportunity that could be lost for years. Sounds pretty tragic.
Lost for years!
So we have an immediate looming emergency that we must solve right now. By passing a huge bill that most in the Congress still don’t know what’s in it and do it right now because of the immediate looming emergency.
And then the provisions in the bill to solve this immediate looming emergency don’t kick in for four years.
Who could buy all that and NOT be a jackass?
