Democratic congressman opposes Gitmo move — because it would upset the Muslims
Today’s advertisement for term limits is 17-term congressman Democrat Ike Skelton of Missouri.
He heads the House Armed Services Committee.
He wrote Defense Secretary Robert Gates to protest the proposal to move Gitmo detainees to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
It might upset Muslims.
“I have strong indications that, if detainees from Guantanamo were to be transferred to Fort Leavenworth, a number of Muslim countries would decline to continue to send their students to the Command and General Staff College. This would have a very negative outcome for our military officers, the school, and the health of our relationships with Muslim nations,” the congressman now in his 33rd year in Congress wrote Gates.
I entirely agree with Representative Skelton. He is a Democrat and he knows how they operate.
First the illegal combatants are housed in a detention facility, but, hey, they’re showing Gallipoli at the base cinema, so let’s let them out for the evening. After all, they haven’t killed anybody LATELY. Duh!
As long as they’re at the movie let’s give them all cars so afterwards they can stop at the malt shop in town for a goat split. And since they’re going to town they’ll need some money. And while they’re in town they might decide they like it there and want to stay, and settle down, and find a same-sex partner to marry, so they’ll need citizenship papers.
Since they’re citizens they’ll be entitled to the free Monday Car Wash to wash the blood from the hood of the car they were given which spattered up there during the honor-killing of those girls who were walking by the side of the road and shamelessly showing off their legs.
And after being given the money, the car, and the citizenship papers (not to mention seeing a great movie where The Muslims Kicked Ass!) one of them might get a job and save a little money and then register to vote as a Republican.
Part of the responsibility of leadership is knowing where to draw the line.
